Carl Hughes, Sports and Recreation Officer
Carl was appointed to the post of Sports and Recreation Officer on 1st July 2009. Prior to his current appointment he had considerable previous experience of delivering sporting programmes for young children and teenagers. This is evidenced by the successful activities/programmes he has since delivered for the young people of Armthorpe.
He is an all round sportsman but has a passion for the sport of Rugby League, which he has played from the age of 8 years. He has gained many honours in the game, having represented Yorkshire and BARLA Great Britain Lions at Under 21’s, Under 23’s and open age level, which toured both Russia and Australia. This led to Carl signing professional contracts for York and Featherstone Rovers, whom he played with for 5 years. In 2009/10 seasons he played in the Championship Division for Keighley Cougars but now he has moved to his working town Doncaster where he hopes to support them in pushing for promotion in 2011.
